Advocacy and Decision - Making Supports

Legal Capacity Training provides an independent advocacy and decision – making support service
which aims to support people to:


* Explore choices and options
* Build their decision – making capacity
* Express their will and preference
* Secure their rights and entitlements 
* Have their choices and views represented

We also do the following

Assist the person to prepare for and attend meetings regarding a particular decision and represent and support the person in expression of their will and preference.

Assist the person to obtain accurate information regarding their decision - making rights within domestic and international law and policy.

Assess whether the support provided to the person is compliant with the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act.

Provide consultancy and support to ensure the protection of rights of people whose decision - making capacity may be functionally assessed.

Support the person to build their decision - making capacity in relation to the particular decision to be made.

Provide consultancy support in good practice in the role of a Decision - Making Assistant, Co – decision Maker, Decision Making Representative and the Designated Health Care Representative.
